The Art Shop Project - A Year in Review

Posted by Krystyna Kwiecinski on

The Art Shop Project has had a very full 2024, and with the start of 2025 we’re looking back on the things we’ve done over the year and are so grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey so far.

During 2024 The Art Shop Project continued the bricks and mortar experience with a pop-up gallery at the Link Gallery in Waterloo’s Innovation Park. From March through the end of November, we hosted two distinct gallery shows in the space. We had a number of visitors and even hosted a special holiday sales event for our small works. Thank you to everyone who was able to join us, and thank you to the Link for being such a gracious host!

This year I had the opportunity to be featured in my neighbourhood magazine, Neighbours of North Waterloo. The piece delved into my life story, and my drive to give back to my community - through activities like The Art Shop Project!

In November I was given an opportunity to speak to the Kitchener-Waterloo Society of Artists (KWSA). It was a pleasure to speak to folks who understand the power of art, and I made some great connections!

Speaking with KWSA was only one of the ways I got out into the art community this year. In April I made sure to attend the Artist Project in Toronto, and in October I was back again for Art Toronto. The talent we have in Canada, and in Southern Ontario, is truly astonishing. I made sure to connect with artists already involved in the Art Shop Project, like Adi Zur who had a number of new pieces!

I have learned so much over the last year with The Art Shop Project, and I am so grateful for each opportunity. When I began The Art Shop Project about two years ago I knew I wanted to connect with both art and my community - and this year has been a good example of both. As we move through 2025 and as The Art Shop Project evolves, we’re happy to have you along for the ride!
